Stubbington Lane
Street guide, Hill Head
Stubbington Lane is the main road linking Hill Head to the village of Stubbington to the north. It runs roughly north-south and serves as one of the two primary routes in and out of Hill Head, the other being Peak Lane. The road carries regular traffic including bus services connecting Hill Head to Fareham town centre. Housing along Stubbington Lane is mixed, ranging from 1930s properties near the Hill Head end to newer developments further north. The road passes through a largely residential landscape, with some hedgerow and garden trees softening the streetscape. At its southern end, Stubbington Lane meets Hill Head Road at a junction that forms the effective centre of the village. Moving north, the lane eventually reaches Stubbington village, where there is a wider range of shops, a medical centre and other facilities. The lane is well used by cyclists as well as motorists, forming part of local routes to and from the coast.
