Hampshire's Solent Shore Village

Hill Head Road

Street guide, Hill Head

Hill Head Road is the principal road through the village, running from the junction with Stubbington Lane southwards to the seafront and harbour. It is the spine of the community and the road most closely associated with the village's identity. The northern section passes through the village centre, where a small parade of local shops includes a convenience store and a fish and chip shop. Further south, the road becomes increasingly residential, lined with a mixture of interwar bungalows and more modern detached houses. At its southern end, the road reaches the coast, where it meets Cliff Road and provides access to the harbour and the Osborne View pub. Hill Head Road carries most of the traffic entering and leaving the village, though volumes remain modest compared to main roads in the wider Fareham area. There are no traffic lights along its length, and parking is available on-street in places, though it can become congested near the seafront during summer weekends.
