Cliff Road
Street guide, Hill Head
Cliff Road runs along the top of the low cliffs at the southern edge of Hill Head, connecting Hill Head Road near the harbour with the paths leading to Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve. It is one of the most desirable addresses in the village, with houses on the seaward side enjoying direct views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. The road provides access to the nature reserve visitor centre and car park, and walkers heading for the coastal path often park along here. The properties are a mix of styles, from older houses built when the road was first developed in the early twentieth century to more modern replacements and extensions. The clifftop setting is attractive but comes with the reality of coastal erosion, which has been an ongoing concern for residents and the local authority. Cliff Road has a quiet, almost secluded feel, particularly in winter when visitor numbers are low.
