Peak Lane

Street guide, Hill Head

Peak Lane is one of the main routes connecting Hill Head and Stubbington to the wider road network, running northeast towards the A27 and providing access to Fareham and the M27 motorway. The lane carries a significant volume of traffic, particularly during commuting hours, as it serves as a key artery for residents of Hill Head, Stubbington and parts of Lee-on-the-Solent. The southern section of Peak Lane passes through residential areas, while further north it runs through more open countryside before reaching the junction with the main road. A recreation ground at Peak Lane provides sports pitches and open space for the local community. The road is well known to local residents as the quickest route to the motorway, and congestion at peak times has been a long-standing issue. Despite the traffic, the residential sections of Peak Lane retain a suburban character, with houses set back from the road behind hedges and front gardens.
