Meon Shore
Street guide, Hill Head
Meon Shore is both a place name and a road at the western end of the Hill Head coastline. The road leads to the beach and the car park that serves as a starting point for coastal walks along the Solent Way. There are a number of beach chalets and some residential properties in this area, giving it a slightly different character from the more built-up parts of the village. Meon Shore is the closest point to the mouth of the River Meon and the southern edge of Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve, making it particularly popular with birdwatchers and naturalists. The beach here is shingle, and at low tide extensive mudflats are exposed. The road sees regular visitor traffic, particularly on weekends and during school holidays, though it remains a quiet and relatively unspoilt stretch of coast.
