Hampshire's Solent Shore Village

Hill Head Harbour

Landmark, Hill Head

Hill Head harbour is a small, informal harbour at the southern end of Hill Head Road where it meets the coast. The harbour shelters a handful of fishing boats, dinghies and small craft, and a concrete slipway provides launching access to the Solent. The harbour has been in use for centuries, originally serving the local fishing community that gave Hill Head its first identity as a settlement. Today it is used by recreational sailors, sea anglers and a small number of commercial fishing boats. The harbour area is also the starting point for walks along the Solent Way in both directions. It is a picturesque spot, with views across the water to the Isle of Wight and along the coast towards Meon Shore. The harbour is unattended and has no formal marina facilities, retaining an unspoilt, working character.
