Hampshire's Solent Shore Village

Hill Head Beach

Beach, Hill Head

Hill Head beach is the main stretch of shoreline running along the southern edge of the village, from the harbour in the east to the Meon Shore area in the west. The beach is predominantly shingle, with some sand exposed at lower tides. It is backed by low clay cliffs, along the top of which runs a path forming part of the Solent Way. The beach is popular for swimming, paddling and sunbathing in summer, though it is not lifeguarded. Views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight are a constant attraction. The beach has a natural, uncommerialised character with no amusement arcades or beach huts, and this simplicity is valued by those who prefer a quieter coastal experience. Dogs are welcome on the beach year-round, making it particularly popular with dog owners.
