Woodcot
A postwar residential neighbourhood north of Hill Head, popular with families for its proximity to local schools.
Woodcot is a residential area to the north of Hill Head, forming part of the broader Stubbington community. The area takes its name from the small copse and farmland that once occupied this ground before postwar housing development transformed it into a suburban neighbourhood. The streets in Woodcot are typical of mid-twentieth-century Hampshire residential development, with a mixture of semi-detached and detached houses set in neat gardens along curving roads and cul-de-sacs. Woodcot Lane and the roads leading off it form the core of this neighbourhood. The area is served by Crofton Anne Dale Schools, a pair of infant and junior schools that draw pupils from Hill Head, Crofton and the wider Stubbington area. For secondary education, students typically attend Bay House School or Crofton School. Woodcot is a practical choice for families who want to live within walking distance of schools while remaining close to the coast. The area has good bus links along Stubbington Lane and Peak Lane, connecting to Fareham town centre in around twenty minutes. There are no shops within Woodcot itself, and the nearest convenience store is in Hill Head village centre or Stubbington. The neighbourhood has a quiet, safe atmosphere, and many of the original houses have been extended or modernised over the years. Green spaces are limited within Woodcot, but the coast and the countryside around Titchfield are both accessible within a short drive or cycle ride.
