Hill Head Village Centre
A small, quiet village centre with a handful of local shops and a strong residential community feel.
The village centre of Hill Head is a modest residential area clustered around the junction of Hill Head Road and Stubbington Lane. It has the feel of a quiet Hampshire village rather than a town, with no high street to speak of but a small collection of useful local amenities. There is a convenience store, a fish and chip shop, a hairdresser and a handful of other small businesses serving the day-to-day needs of residents. The area is predominantly made up of detached and semi-detached houses built from the 1930s onwards, with some older properties along Hill Head Road itself. St Andrew's Church, a modest building dating from the early twentieth century, serves as a focal point for community life alongside the nearby community hall. The village centre sits on slightly higher ground than the seafront, separated from the beach by a few hundred metres of residential streets. It is a peaceful area with little through traffic, as Hill Head sits at the end of a peninsula between the Solent and the lower Meon valley. Most residents drive to Stubbington or Fareham for larger shopping needs, but the village centre provides enough for everyday essentials. The area has a strong sense of community, with local noticeboards and a regular newsletter keeping people connected.
